My grades/GPA have improved every year, upward grade trend.
SAT - 1500 out of 2400
Reading: 570, Math: 410, Writing: 520
I haven't taking any AP classes but I take a good amount of Honor classes

105 hours of Community Service, including service work in a third world country.
Winter & Spring track 1-4 and I'll probably be a captain for both this year.
I won't need any finical aid
Both parents are college graduates
I have some learning disability, hence my low SAT Math scores.

Thanks for any responses I get

You are below the mid-range stats for the freshman class that entered in 2008/ 2009. I believe these stats have gone up for the 2009/ 2010 freshman class. The SAT scores listed are for the Reading & Math only, and do not include the Writing score.

Competitive candidates will have mostly As and Bs in the core academic areas (English, math, lab science, social science and foreign language)

Competitive candidates for admission will have taken upper level coursework in the core academic areas (i.e. Honors, AP, IB, Dual Enrollment) when available in their high school.

More information is available in the Course Catalog (http://www.jmu.edu/catalog/09/general/admissions.html</a>)

Ekalb3-in my opinion, your GPA is great, your SAT’s are low for JMU, but I believe your OOS/NY, and your URM, under represented minority, will carry you in. Good Luck, it’s a great school. My son is a sophomore/OOS/NY.

thank you very much i would love to go to its my number one choice! if you dont mind, what were your sons grades and test scores?

Ekalb-he is a sophomore at JMU now, but when he applied for Fall 08, he had a 90GPA, 2AP classes, no honors, 1260 SAT’s.
