what are my chances?

<p>hey you guys...i am going to be a senior this coming fall...and i wanted to know what i need to do to improve my chances of getting into the following schools (in no specific order):</p>

<p>1) Rice University (Rice-BAylor program)
2) Harvard University (pre-med program?)
3) Brown University (PLME)
4) UCSD (medical scholars program)
5) John Hopkins (pre-med?)
6) Tufts University and George Washington University ( B.S./M.D. program)
7) Berkeley (premed)
8) USC (B.S./M.D. program)
6) Boston University, Chicago university for B.S./M.D. program (they are my safety schools?...or is that too difficult?)
7) USD, Irvine, are safety public schools for pre-med</p>

<p>okAy...here is my transcript, etc:</p>

<p>freshamn, sophomore, junior year- one B in honors math each yr (like an 89.2....gRR!)</p>

<p>= a total of three B+ for 9th-11th grade
i have 3.94 GPA unweighted...so weighted should probably be like 4.3 because i took the following AP/honors :</p>

<p>AP BIO
AP Spanish (5 yrs)
AP psychology....we are only allowed to take AP classes in junior year, so that is why I only have three APs
but senior year I'm taking:
AP Stats
AP English
AP Calc</p>

<p>SAT scores: really bad, but i plan to retake them all in october and november:</p>

<p>SAT I: math-670 reading-650 writing-720 =2040
....i really want to raise each to at least 750...
any tips to raise ?</p>

<p>SAT II: bio- 720 spanish- 680 (i know!) MAth IIc-700</p>

<p>EC:
* i have been learning classical music and dance (part of my culture that has been carried down generation to generation) since the age of five...i have participated in several programs, and i will be graduating in January ( a 2hr solo performance for each art signifies graduation)</p>

<p>2)i am an active member of HSUS, BAV, and VIVA
3) i have been in speech and debate since 9th grade-I am in junior varsity level (but the bad thing is i have not attended that many tournaments)
4) i played badminton for two years-9th and 10th-but it really conflicted with music and dance, because music and dance easily take 15-20 hrs a week (for each art!), so i did not join the team in 11th grade
5)i am currently chairman of Newborn Photography at Washington Hospital ( i was elected in March)</p>

<p>VOLUNTEERing:
1) I tutored at two elementary schools when i was in 9th and 10th grade= only sixty hrs of service learning
2) I volunteered and participated in the AIds run
3) I have been volunteering with Sankara Eye foundation sicne eighth grade= a lOt of hrs that i never noted down
4) I plan to volunteer/leaflet for VIVA as soon as possible
5) I have fundraised for a leukemia organization
6) I have been working in Washington Hospital since end of ninth grade...and I plan to volunteer in ER as soon as i turn 18</p>

<p>MEdical interest:
1) i volunteer for Sankara Eye foundation-a huge organization dedicated to curing blindness in India by the year 2020....and I plan on visiting one of the hospitals in India and maybe shadowing a doctor there in July...does that show my interest in science?
2) I interviewed a general physician last year (10th grade)
3) I want to shadow my immunologist...i need to get her permission.., and should i shadow my general physician too?
4) I have not done any research programs...so i'm really worried about that becuase i heard it's verry important (i did not even know about it until last week)..any suggestions?</p>

<p>JOBS: we are economically unstable, so i have worked since eigth grade
i give my salary to my parents...so i do not work just to get some "spending money"</p>

<p>1) 8th grade summer: E-systems consulting (clerk)
2) 9th grade summer: Yo-Yo center: (i tutored, took care of children, took care of computer work)
3) 10th garde summer: Kumon (reading tutor/correcter)
3) 10th grade summer and school (up till Janaury): Giraffe Learning Center (i tutored a school of 2nd graders, 3rd graders, 4th graders--in effect, making me almost a teacher)
4)11th grade summer: private tutor </p>

<p>.... please telll me what stuff i have written is actually valuable...and what i still need to do to get into these B.S./M.d programs at my favorite colleges</p>

<p>thanks so much</p>

<p>I think you have great shots at Boston U, Tufts, GWU and Chicago, but honestly Harvard and Brown are huge reaches. Work on getting those SAT and SAT II scores up, and Boston U, Tufts, GWU and Chicago could be safetys, with great shots at Berkeley and Johns Hopkins.<br>
Good luck!</p>
