My name is Emir.I'm a 20 year old student from Bosnia.Next year I was planning to move at Princeton.before I start, just to say that I'd appreciate any kind of assistance, and don't hasitate to comment this post,please..

First of all, just to point out some of the things that will deff.increase my chances:

-very good grades back in high schools, lots of awards, and support from all of my current proffesors at my local Uni of Economics
-proffessional swimmer for like 10 years, and in that time I've achieved very good and impressive results as well
-next week I'm finishing one and only CISCO academy, which means I'll be a network engineer
-spend 3 years in a national choir
-lots of international sport experience

Those are some of the things about me.so,tell me what do current students think about me getting financial aid,and scholarships as well.
And,since I'm trying with a student transfer program, can anyone who has had any kind of experience in this area provide me with some more information ?

It’s hard to assess your chances. Strong grades and good recommendations will help. If you can swim at a very high level, that will definitely help. Have you taken SAT or ACT? High scores there would be a plus. Your post suggests that you may not have full command of written English – there are misspellings like “hasitate” and “proffesors” that stick out. (Use an English spell checker to avoid that sort of thing.) Even very talented students will be at a disadvantage unless their English is very strong.

I’m aware of the fact that the competion there is huge, but I’m not worried…mainly because of my knowledge and the fact that I finished Gymnasium…
and as for those ‘‘minor mistakes’’,believe me man, that’s only a lapsus…but tnx anyway…U’ve been helpful :D

uurm since you have been going to university, i guess you´re applying as a graduate student?? sorry, don´t know any details, but i heard that it is SOOOOO tough to get into pton as graduate, much harder than undergraduate… that said, you kinda sound really optimistic anyway and you do have a good chance of getting in, as i´d see it. there is of course no certainty with ivies, and it would be easier to make a guess if you´d submit some test scores (yh i know it´s stupid, but they are still a major admission aspect)
then again, i only know about undergraduate admissions, situation with graduate students could be totally different, and maybe you don´t even need any standardized testing.
good luck!!

ps how come it is an advantage to having finished gymnasium? maybe in bosnia it´s different, but in austria (hey neighbor ^^) it´s more like high school, so that would not be an advantage as such?! please clarify any misunderstandings on my side…

yeah,I wanted to apply as a graduate student.really, cause I heared,it’s much easier to be accepted as a graduate student (transfer student) then trying your luck as an undergraduate…but, every university has it’s own ‘‘rules’’.Like for example,I also want to apply to NYU and last time I heared,if u are a graduate student, that means you don’t even have to do SAT’s…just maybe TOEFEL.
But tnx anyway…are u at Princeton?
I don’t know how tough is austrian educational system, but as far as we have,Gymnasium has been considered as the toughest high school of alls…but the real Gymnasium.that’s because,we pretty much studied everything…from Maths to Geography and stuff like that…
Maybe u may have misunderstood me.I was nearly stating that within the high schools Gymnasium has been considered as the best one.

Emirr, don’t reject what OpenSecret was saying. While I’ve never had to immerse myself in a new language so I’m not really fit to assess your language skills and progress based on the amount of time you’ve been speaking it, your English is less than perfect. Errors in spelling that were pointed are just a few. Your responses following that also are confusing and shroud the meaning of your sentences. Make sure everything you write to Princeton (everything) has perfect grammar and a developed and interesting syntax, especially your essay.

Besides that, what you’re saying as qualifications are a little vague and it’s hard to make an assessment, more detailed stuff is needed.

I’m wondering why you keep classing yourself as a “transfer student”; Princeton does not allow transfer students:
If you have finished college (all of undergrad) and got a degree, then you would apply as a graduate student, which can be very competitive depending on what you apply to. If have not yet finished college, you can’t apply to Princeton at all unless you want to pretend you are a new student and haven’t been to college before.
