Alright...I have a lot of schools here. You don't have to look at all of them, but any opinions would be most welcome:

Major: Computer Science (possible double/minor in business and/or music minor)

Syracuse
Stevens Institute of Technology
Harvard
RPI
University of Rochester
Johns Hopkins
Cornell
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
UMass Amherst
University of Pittsburgh
Penn State
Carnegie Mellon
NYU Poly (formerly Brooklyn Poly)
Princeton
Stanford
UPenn
MIT
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Case Western Reserve University
University of Michigan
University of Maryland

GPA: 3.76 Weighted (AP/Honors; will have taken 7 AP class and 6 tests by graduation)
AP: Computer Science A - 5, US History - 4, Statistics - 3
Senior Year Courses: AP English Lit, AP Calc AB/BC, AP Physics, Independent Study
ACT: 33
SAT Reasoning: N/A
SAT II: 620 Bio, 690 US History, 670 Math II
EC: Sole proprietor of a computer programming business, 4 years of music (jazz band, marching band, wind ensemble, local county college band - all lead trumpet; area honors band - third trumpet, first chair), Chess club founder, Math team member.
Recommendations: Junior Pre-Calc Honors teacher & Sophomore English Honors teacher

All the Ivies, JHU, and Stanford and the like will most likely be reaches (unless you have legacy status at any of them) since your ACT is only slightly above average and your SAT II’s are weak, especially your Math II if you intend to go into computer science.

ECs are okay for a computer science major…it’s great that you have music in there!

You should be okay for the rest, although I’m not familiar with how competitive CMU is for computer science majors (I’d guess they have a lot).

If you’re really interested in the Ivies, if you still have time, sign up for an alumni or on-campus interview.

I think you have a very good chance of being accepted at U of Rochester. With your varied interests, I think it would be a great choice for you. I’m assuming you are familiar with the Rochester curriculum. I agree with the above poster regarding the Ivies etc probably being reaches for you.

mk so you have good enough everything to get you in. top colleges tend to have a benchmark for stats and you have gone above tht i think… so i think withgood essays and suck
