I applied to UB for architecture and I just want to know if I have a good chance of getting in. I applied to RPI and RIT also but UB is the school I really want to go to. I am really artistic so I think that would help. If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.

I am a caucasian male from Central New York

Class rank; 30ish(out of about 60 students)

I have scored mid to high 90's on most of my regents exams. I have many extracurricular activities including:
Volunteer work
Football
Volleyball
Basketball
Track
Baseball
Student Councle
Treasurer of science club

Very good I got in with 1190 and about 85 average average out of HS I was certainly helped by knowing someone in admissions though, and he got me provisionally accepted. 4 years later I have a 3.5 GPA :)

A little below the average, but I think you still have a good chance of getting in. The mean UB student is actually surprisingly high, or at least they’ll have you thinking that.

OOPS… i misread your SAT scores. Sorry I thought you got a 1450/1600 my bad. Um i think you might run into a little bit of trouble but you probably won’t be an automatic reject. I heard that we aren’t accepting anyone under a 1000/1600 so at least you got a 1000 Sorry about my last post though

You need to make sure you have all your bases covered.
Your SAT & Class rank are on the low side.

If you want to truly do architecture make sure you also get applications into Delhi , Alfred State, Morrisville etc. I belive you can still transfer into the program after 2 years with an associates degree.

RPI is a reach for you.
Not so sure about RIT either.

woo I got into UB! But denied from SEAS, which I don’t remember applying to.
Anyway, your SAT’s put you at an extreme disadvantage, your class rank is shabby, and your average is really low for UB as well.
Make sure to apply to safeties.

I emailed the admissions department a week ago and they said they didn’t recieve my SAT scores but I actually sent them a few weeks ago. I emailed them back but they haven’t responded yet.

The SAT scores have to be sent from the testing agency directly. Did you send them through them or your guidance counselor? That could be the reason they said that they didn’t receive them.

HonorsCentaur - I know someone who applied to this year and also was denied acceptance to SEAS, when they didn’t apply there either. Weird.

Architecture is one of UB’s most selective majors, I know a few people who didn’t get in there last year but did get into other reputable universities.

its going to be pretty tough for you… i had the same sat scores and a little higher gpa with a bigger grad class size and got denied. it really depends where your coming from too. i was local so i wasnt very “diverse” make sure you do all the parts of the application process and have a good essay.

Well I didn’t get in. It sucks but I’m gonna go to a community college and try hard to transfer. In the long run, it will cost me a lot less, so I guess I’m happy about that.
