i know i posted a thread earlier about economics, but i decided that i want to major in neuroscience & minor in business management & do pre-med.
what are my chances at bates?

Your app is pretty good, very diversified circulars, so those will help so much! Much better than mine. Your standardized test scores are ok, but take the ACT. The neat thing about Bates is that those scores are optional, not submitting them will not hurt your chances. I didn’t take the SAT, but i got a 26 on the ACT, didn’t submit it, and I got in. Unless you are considering applying to other schools that require the SAT, you really don’t need to take it again. Take the ACT, you may do better, some people are better at one than the other. My GPA was 3.71 or something like that, your GPA shouldn’t be much of a problem, considering that you took difficult classes.

What is really, really important is your essay (the Bates supplement, at least last years, wasn’t hard at all), and your recommendations. If you can write a good essay and can get good recommendations, then i think you could get in.

One more thing, about your majors, I highly recommend economics, it is one of the top programs in the country.

Hope that helps

Just for the record, Bates doesn’t have a business management/business program. Most liberal arts schools don’t. But the economics department is fantastic, so that is an option.
