""If You cannot pay the education costs, dont even think of applying to schools not offering aid to intels ""
[/quote]

There are about 25-30 very gud universities that offer handsome aid and scholarship.
search along and u will know abt them in no time...

For ur stats.. i think that it all is fine except for the sat1 ..nomatter how these schools say and proclaim ..accepting an international +financial aid+ Low sat CR and writing scores means a low chance. a definite 2100+ wud put u among the top applicants and high admittance chances ....
Also do apply for top notch places too. if u get admitted even by chance u've got the chance of ur life..

The ecs are gud so no work to be done here....
Volunteer work ...500+hrs for intel is gud..so again no further work required if can explain in ad.. form abt them..

U shud by now start working on other parts of app...like essays and reco......

Remember they are really important..if they dont speak for you , you loose the case and whow ....no admission....... SO start working... We wont evaluate ur chances now as no stats are available. But if u can portray urself in forms correctly. ur a gud applicant.........

Have you taken the TOEFL?
And umm I have noticed that you spelt 'recommend' wrong, 2 times. lol yeah so it's 'recommend' not recomand..

First, the UCs don't offer ANY scholarship/fin aid/whatever you want to call it, to intels. So even if you get in, they will not give you any money.

You should apply to MIT. Their criteria for intels: IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY REGIONAL/NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL AWARDS, YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED.
And that's from the admission guy himself.
And they are need-blind. They will give you all the money you want, if you get in. But it may be a tiny bit of a reach to get in.

Carneige Melon will also like you.
Go for the 'techy' schools. It seems like if you are heading towards that direction- maths science..?

You have good chances in:
Univ. of southern California
University of Florida
Rice
Carnegie Mellon
Georgia Tech
Purdue
U of Wisconsin
Tufts University

Bit confused about: Illinois (which one?)
U of Washington (i'm assuming st.louis??.. or state?)
Michigan (state? ann arbor? which one!?)

I also recommend Johns Hopkins. But I also recommend not applying next year.. because I'm applying there and you'l just be another competition lol

I forgot to add.check out previous yrs stats.see how many ppl get admitted to the universities in Us frm ur country. If there is no fixed trtend or very low number ./..chances are ur admission may become a bit (only a bit) easy. Coz in actual practice the competition among the applicants is only among peers frm own country owing to quota restrictions at top places.. as i heard a person with 1380 sat1 admitted to MIT but frm Afghanistan

Hi Nikola,
You have quite a good chance of getting a scholarship to a US university/college.
First of all, try IUB as a safety (www.iu-bremen.de, it's not US, but it's comparable). Also, try exploring LACs (see the US-News top for Liberal Arts Colleges).
Your list is top heavy on universities you don't need, most likely, because they are very stingy when it comes to Financial Aid. So, explore the obvious alternatives - the ivies, MIT, stanford and the not so obvious ones - check out all the top 50 or so unis and be very attentive at which offer finaid for internationals. Also, there are quite a few helpful threads on this boards.
Good luck!

Check out LACs...a lot of them offer generous need-based financial aid to internationals, and with your academic credentials you have excellent shots at those schools.

Oh and Rice doesn't offer fin aid...and they require you to provide documents that show your ability to pay for the cost for 4 years there before they consider you as an applicant if you're international...but there is a partial scholarship int'ls can get if they get admitted...kind of ironic.
