What are my Daughters Chances?

GPA: 3.62 UW, 3.75 W
APs: US History (5), Biology (5), English Lit, (4), Chemistry (TBD), BC Calculus (TBD). Her school limits the number of APs she can take in a year.
SATs: 2290 (1490)
SATII: Math II (800), US History (760), English (740)
ECs: Job, Editor of her yearbook, Captain of Field Hockey Team

It seems to me that Florida helps with the geo distribution thing.
Does she offer anything that might help their US News Stats like, for example, top 10% or valedictorian?
Her SAT's are smack in the middle of the 50% so that's good!
But who knows...

SATs are excellent, ECs are great. AP scores are great. GPA is questionable, but really what matters more is her rank.

Thank you so much. Do you have any idea what colleges do when schools do not report rankings at all?

Does your school at least say what decile each kid is in?

No. It refuses to give any sort of mention towards this, because the school is so highly competitive that some students with very good grades could end up in lower percentiles. It also does not weigh GPAs, so it would be a big disadvantage to kids such as my daughter with a rigorous course load, since some kids don't take any AP or honors classes.

Good for your school. Top 10% is a ridiculous criterion for strong high schools like that. I wish MINE would stop reporting rank. Anyway, I read somewhere that their regional people are familiar with individual schools in their assigned areas so they will understand what her GPA means. The school also prob. provides a school profile like mine does, so they understand more. Even if they can't get a feel for it from all that, the AP scores validate her. Looking at her GPA, it looks like they don't give much weight for AP's and ifd I can see that, admissions will too.

Since your High School doesn't rank it is important that they give a detailed profile of their school when they send off your daughter's transcript. Admissions people seem to be able to sort through the increasing number of schools that don't report rank, according to some of the "insider" books on Ivy admissions, the Admissions Dept either assigns a rank or puts more weight on test scores and GPA. Since the Ivy league sees numerous "high score" candidates it is important that your daughter is singular in some additional way. What about field hockey, I know Dartmouth has a team, was she contacted by the coach? Could she contact the coach?
