what are my Daughters Chances?

GPA: 3.62 UW, 3.75 W
APs: US History (5), Biology (5), English Lit, (4), Chemistry (TBD), BC Calculus (TBD). Her school limits the number of APs she can take in a year.
SATs: 2290 (1490)
SATII: Math II (800), US History (760), English (740)
ECs: Job, Editor of her yearbook, Captain of Field Hockey Team

out of state, highly competitive east coast private school

She looks competitive to me.

Does her school use Naviance? Most of the private schools around here do. We have found it quite useful.

Yes, thank you, they do use naviance. We have found that the problem with it is that we do not know whether any candidates who were accepted have significant "pulls", such as athletic commitment or in state status. Have you used it anyways as a reliable source?

florida6678, where do people with grades like your daughter's typically go? What percent of her class go to top 25ish schools each year? Her test scores and ECs are more than sufficient for UVA OOS, so what matters is how good her grades really are.

I have found it useful for the schools that have a good number of applications, the really popular schools like Georgetown, UVA, Vanderbilt, Duke, etc. For the Ivies, I don't think it is very predictive--decisions are so random and the number of applicants is relatively small. The special cases are usually pretty obvious by looking at the graphs--the averages aren't very helpful.

I would say about 30-45% goes to top 25ish schools, taking into consideration there are different lists for Universities and Colleges. Thank you so much for your helpful replies!

My S was admitted with an almost identical situation. he had maybe a few more APs, but his grades were a little lower. Otherwise their stories are almost identical. He was admitted without being wait listed. Even so, you just never know. Anything can happen. Based on his Naviance, everyone with same or better stats were admitted. The next tier down (down to about 2150) was about half admitted and half waitlisted. Below that is spotty. As I said, no guarantees, but a very solid chance.

Flordia6678, Has your daughter received the likely letter?

No she has not. She is keeping her fingers crossed...she turned in her 2nd semester grades almost right before the deadline, so she is hoping this may be the reason. She is very nervous about the lack of likely letter.

Thank you HartinGA, that makes me feel much more reassured. Did your son end up picking UVA? How does he like it there?
