Dear Office of Student Financial Aid,

My name is ______ and I am writing a appeal for my suspension of financial aid. The spring semester was a very stressful semester for me because I was learning to adapt to the college pace. There were loads of assignments from all my classes and I tried my best to complete these assignments with effort and it overwhelmed me. This affected my ability to focus on class lectures and was building up my stress. I know college is completely different from high school. The pace of classes are faster and much more difficult. Attending college as an adult has many responsibilities. This is my first year of college and during the fall semester, I had above a 3.0 cumulative GPA as a freshman. I began to take harder classes such as Math 125 and College level English 101 in spring. I was not prepared for these classes and the stress was overwhelming. College will not always be easy. I took the wrong approach to the spring semester and slacked off. This greatly affected my GPA because classes got tougher. I did not pass classes for the spring semester and I understand how this affects me. Attending Los Angeles City College will help me prepare for a 4 Year University. My goal is to transfer to a University and I realize that “slacking off” is not an option. I understand the expectations better now, and I am going to prepare to not only pass and exceed for Fall 2013, but every semester.

I do realize I have neglected my studies and I would like another chance to do better in them. I have put together a list of what I will do to succeed in school:
1. I will manage my time wisely so I can balance out my studying. I will put aside 2 hours everyday to review material so I will have knowledge for the next lecture.
2. I will go to tutoring for material that I don't understand so I will not be lost.
3. I will contact professors for additional and attend their office hours.
4. I will do my best to improve as a college student and adapt to the college work schedule.
5. I will retake classes that I did not pass in and replace the grade to increase my GPA.

After spring semester, I knew the consequences and the effects that happen when I don't succeed. I put my mindset to put education first and have passed all my summer classes. My performance for every semester counts. I wish to accomplish earning a BA degree or masters in business. The journey to that degree is tough and involves me giving in my 100% to my education. Receiving financial aid would help me pay for books and tuition fees. My family earns a low income and work minimum wage jobs. My parents try to provide the best resources for my education and are struggling to help me finance for school due to bills and rents, as well as groceries.

Thank you for allowing me a opportunity to reconsider my financial aid. I look forward to your decision.

THIS IS FOR LOS ANGELES CITY COLLEGE. i submitted the appeal since the 30th of august. is it currently september 23? why does it take soo long??
