I wanna work in corporate finance but since I lack the experience for an MBA I'll be going for accounting, I really wanna work in the OC area and currently debating between CSUF and USC both of which have a masters of accounting program. CSUF would cost me almost nothing as I wouldn't even commute, its a 15 minute drive for me, but USC would be a monthly train pass and about 30K in loans. So does CSUF also have good employment prospects for the OC area or not?

Masters in Accounting is to meet requirements to take the CPA and be CPA licensed. Beyond that it doesn’t serve much purpose.

I was under the impression that I could also use accounting to break into corporate finance.

Yes, the MAC will help you get into corporate finance as well. An accounting degree + CPA will certainly help if this is what you are after. How much work experience do you have? Having just one year work experience makes you eligible for most MBA programs. The MBA degree will probably make you rise through the ranks a bit faster than just the CPA alone.

I have no accounting experience and my undergrad is useless to me because its in Poli Sci, save for my 3.48 Overall GPA and the 3.8 Major GPA. I just wanna get a job that makes me a good amount of cash without having to spend years upon years in school. My main concern is, as stated earlier, whether USC gives any visible benefit for Corporate Finance or Accounting as opposed to CSU Fullerton. Also, would you guys recommend a CMA instead of a CPA if I do decide to go with the finance side?
