What are my odds at UNC, Mizzou, and Northwestern?

As a current junior, I'm just curious about my odds for these schools and what I can do to improve them before college app time next year.

Planned Major: Journalism

ACT: I took it in October and got a 31 (35 English, 28 Math, 33 Reading, 28 Science) with an 8 on the essay. I'm retaking it sometime this year to try and get 32+, but not sure when yet.
SAT: Haven't taken it yet.
SAT Subject Tests: US History's planned on but not sure what other ones I'll take.
PSAT: Almost certain I'm not National Merit anything, but won't know until I get my scores back.
AP Tests: US History (5), will take Psych and Chem this year, with US Gov, Calc AB, and Lit planned for next year.

Projected Senior Year Schedule: Honors Calculus 1, Honors Physics, World Religions & Christian Lifestyles, Honors Spanish 4, Print Media 1 & 2*, AP US Gov, AP Lit
*had I been able to take it this year without messing up my whole schedule, I would have done so.

GPA: 3.86 unweighted, 4.43 weighted
Class Rank: My school doesn't rank beyond valedictorian/salutatorian but I'm somewhere in the top 10%
State: OOS for all three of the schools mentioned

ECs so far (if possible, NHS will be added to this in the spring):
Girl Scouts since 3rd grade (current Ambassador & treasurer of the Cadette/Senior/Ambassador board for my service unit)
3 years school bowling team, 2 varsity
3 years school pep band (clarinet)
2 years school service rep
2 years student council officer
30+ volunteer hours over the minimum
1 year tutoring at local Presbyterian church
1 year liturgical choir
1 year taekwondo

Awards/Other Info:
scholar athlete last 2 years (3.5+ GPA while on varsity)
3 or 4 minor writing awards (can't remember off the top of my head)
attended a two-week journalism program at Miami (OH) last summer

Race: White
Gender: F

Any constructive criticism is appreciated, as are other comments!

bump

bump again

still bumping… :|

I think northwestern- reach
mizzou- match
unc-high match

Thank you! @teenagecrime‌

NWU Medill: Reach
UNC-Chapel Hill: Reach
Mizzou: Safety (because you’re directly admitted into journalism with 29+, given a 3.86 GPA)

Thanks! @Catria‌

Northwestern should be a reach, UNC is a high match, and Mizzou is a safety for you. It’s the GPA that makes UNC a high match in my opinion, but I would be surprised if you didn’t get admitted. Good luck! Btw, just copy and paste the link of your chance me page onto other chance me pages.

Thanks for both the tip on links and overall feedback! @jpdaman11‌

UNC-CH, for OOS, is about at the same level of standards as Duke, hence UNC as a reach…

As for Mizzou direct entry into journalism standards: <a href=“Undergraduate – Missouri School of Journalism”>http://journalism.missouri.edu/admissions/undergraduate/</a></p>

Thanks for the extra info – I knew there was a direct admit at Mizzou with a certain ACT score but wasn’t sure what it was. So that’s helpful! @Catria‌

Northwestern - Reach
UNC - Match
Mizzou - Definitely in!

:) I’m planning on studying journalism too and am applying to NU and Mizzou! Wishing you the best of luck when you do end up applying! I’m sure you’ll end up somewhere great.

Thanks for the encouragement and good luck to you too! @lulamae‌
