I go to Fresno City College (community college). I turned in my application two months ago to CSU Fresno for the 2015-2016 year. I'm planning on transferring as a junior majoring in mechanical engineering. I don't get the results if I made it or not until March 15, but the suspense will be killing me until then (I have an anxiety disorder). I'm worried because my GPA might ruin my chances. Right now, I have a 2.64. The minimum is a C average to transfer to State.

I am also graduating with an associates degree in mathematics before I get to state. My major GPA so far on my associates is a 3.24, if that matters.

Right now, CSU Fresno is the only option I can take because I live less than 10 miles from it and because of finances. I get very nervous sometimes thinking about the results because I've worked really hard to get to where I am. I've slacked off so many times during the first years at Fresno City, but I jumped back up; I get those "Wish I could go back during my first year.." sometimes and it kills me.

I've read the statistics of transferring to State according to their website and 98% of transfers have been admitted (as of 2011) and that transfer students who go to community colleges around the area are accommodated first which did give me some peace of mind, but that GPA is always lurking around my mind.

Will a 2.64 be "good enough" to transfer to State especially since I'm going to engineering? I have heard from some of the members at the engineering club that a 3.0 or above is the recommended GPA. I checked in with a counselor at State a while back and there are a lot of classes I still need to take to get my bachelors, which can give me an opportunity to get my grades up.
