Hi so I’ve finished all my applications and I wanted to see opinions of my odds of getting into the schools I’m applying for.
So I’m applying to Andover, Exeter, and Deerfield. My SSAT score was 2343 (99th percentile) and I consistently test in the 99th percentile (i.e. I’ve never tested below it since pre-k). My current school requires you to test in the 99th to apply.
My other stats are,
Race: Asian/White
State: Oregon
Gender: F
Grades: Straight As
Other Courses: I’ve already taken three high school level courses for high school credit and I’m currently taking three more.
Essays: My Exeter Essays were about how the systemic racism and political divison in my city have affected my life and how I view the world, the second one was about when I lost a competition. My Deerfield short answer was about Gothic literature and the essay was similar to my Exeter one about where I live. My Andover essay was about how much I love history. My graded writing sample was an essay about To Kill A Mockingbird that I honestly think was a really good sample of my writing, I got a 51/50 but the average score in my class was 44
Extracurriculars: Swim Team for 4 years, Girl Scouts until last year (A lot of community service from that), and volunteer work at my local library.
A few years ago I also represented the largest county in my state for our state spelling bee.
Other: In my interviews I really talked about how much I love history, and reading. None of my family are alumni from Exeter. I think most of my application is based off my academic strength since my extracurriculars are lacking. If you’ve read all the way through this then thank you because this was kind of long. Anyways I just want to know if my odds are good for getting into the schools I’m applying for.
You know admit rates are not good for your schools, but you seem to be pretty amazing. I think your geography will be helpful and (dare I say) I think you have a good shot at Deerfield and a chance at the other 2. Odds put you at 1/3, and I think you get waitlisted at the others, but I am hopeful one goes your way.
Come on @michaeluwill stop playing this parlor game with people’s emotions. We aren’t fortune tellers nor betting on the Super Bowl.
@randomapplicant2 You seem like a wonderful applicant, best of luck to you.

To be fair, every chance thread is a parlor game.

Specifics like “get waitlisted at both the others and maybe pull one of them late in the game.” ???
Feel free to disagree. I don’t do chances because I view them pointless, but if the OP asks for chances, people will express opinions. It’s up to the OP to decide what to do with the responses.
I meant it, but tweaked it and thanks for the feedback.
btw - waitlist is the likely result for a variety of reasons.
You seem like a well-qualified candidate academically.
From admissions sessions last year, AO’s from top schools said 75% of applicants are academically qualified. So maybe instead of 13-15%, your chances might be 17-19% per school. Maybe a bit of a bump due to being from Oregon. Another small bump because your essays sound like you linked your personal self with some interesting topics. (As long as you truly revealed yourself in those essays. big dip if you didn’t.) And then it all really depends on if you are likable, which I can’t tell from your post. Your “must be 99%-ile to apply to my school” comment feels a little like you might focus too much on impressing rather than connecting, but you are 13, and this is a quick post – maybe you are super likable in interviews. So if you want chances, I’d guess 60-40 for having at least one option. (You only applied to those three schools?)

you probably got in, unless you don’t show an aspect of your personality that doesn’t contribute to their community. Congrats tho… you got spit perfect grades and extracurriculars
