What are my options after academic dismissal from California CC?

Im 20 years old and being academically dismissed at the end of this semester from a California community college. Without excuses, I was not in a good point of my life and did not take school seriously while juggling depression, drug addiction, and work. I ended up with mostly W’s. After making drastic changes, I’m in a different place now and I would love to able to redeem myself if I still have the oppurunity but what are my options?

Can I start fresh at a different CC? I don’t have any transferable units and im willing to start over. ( I never applied for financial aide)
Do I have to send a transcript from my previous
college?
Will I still be able to transfer to a 4 year college if I make a complete 360?

Please, I know the mistakes that I’ve made and I don’t wanna hear lectures. I need some serious answers on what I can do.

If I still have a shot at school, I want to do that because I know I can do so much better. Thank you.

Yes, you can start over. Even the CC you went to probably has a “fresh start” process which would allow you to return. One good thing is that you did not receive financial aid. Accepting financial aid and then making no progress is actually a bigger problem. If you were to apply for financial aid for the first time, I’m not sure if your past record would impact you. You’d have to check with the Financial Aid office at the school you are attending at the time.

Usually you will need to submit transcripts from every school you attended.

And finally, yes, you can still transfer to a 4-year college if you show a complete 360. Most schools would love to have a student who has shown a serious attitude to college after a rough start. There are also many students like yourself out there so you are not as unusual as you might think!
