What are my options? (TAG)

My CCC transfer counselor helped me plan out my courses for TAG admission to UCD(bio sci). Unfortunately, my current UC GPA is just shy of 3.1 and the minimum requirement for submitting a TAG is a 3.2 GPA. Really not sure how my grades will turn out this semester- even if I get straight A's(unlikely) that'll put me at around a 3.18 GPA. Best case scenario I do and ace a transferable course over summer barely meeting the requirement. If I don't however, would UCSC be my best bet? I believe they'll accept a 3.0 GPA.

It seems like it’s going to be a lot of trouble just to–maybe-- get the GPA required to TAG UCD. I would TAG UCSC and not worry about it. There’s always that change you’ll mess up Fall 2013 and get your TAG rescind for UCD.

Merced seems to similar requirements and only a 2.9 GPA needed. It seems like UCSC and UCM are my only options at the moment. I really want to go to UCD- how hard would it be to get in without TAG or could I possibly transfer there later on from a different UC?

I’m really stressing about this right now. Would taking 2 easy courses over summer be a good idea? Davis is really where my goal is set upon and I’d like to get in with or without TAG.

Anything to up your GPA would be good. If you have any D/F’s over the last 2 years, you maybe able to erase that grade if your school has some sort of academic renewal. (Two deleted F’s raised my GPA by almost .4!) If not, the best way to do is to keep going until you reach that 3.2. If you REALLY want to push yourself, you might want to take summer online courses at another CC. If you can get that classes you might be able to boost your GPA

If TAG doesn’t end up working out for me with UCD, would it be possible for me to transfer there through normal admission with my current grades?

Even if you don’t TAG, you can still apply and if you have around a 3.2, you should be a pretty good candidate for admission. Although, I would suggest working your ass off and trying to get a 3.2 GPA before that to be able to TAG. It’s less stressful knowing that you have a guarantee.
