Let me rephrase this question: will I be at all limited in employment if I choose to attend a public school (UVA, UCLA, Berkeley) rather than an Ivy for investment banking?

This is for undergraduate.

Depends on the Public and the Ivy in question. All 3 schools you listed are solid semi-targets or better - while HYPSW are definitely full target schools, you will have a lot of opportunity coming from a strong semi as well. UVA is a great school, period, and there will be a lot of IB and S&T opportunity there. Berkley is very good as well and while you may not have AS much exposure to east coast, you will have a fair amount and will be considered a full target candidate on the west coast. UCLA is a solid semi as well with a good amount of alumni representation in the industry. While the west coast schools you listed have the most exposure to west coast IB, there are also sell days at the bigger shops, which will allow you to move outside of the west coast if interested.
