Ok, so I'm a Mechanical Engineering major who's looking to transfer relatively soon. I have a GPA that's not so hot. It's around 2.75 because I was a knucklehead when I first started going to CC. My first 2 semesters were sub 2.00 then after that I have had all above 2.5 the last 2 semesters they've been above 3.5. I have definitely getting more into the swing of things and I've taken college a lot more seriously. That and I've fixed my financial situation a lot, which was a large cause of my problems before. I can apply for academic renewal at my school and that will boost my gpa to around a 3.10, but I know that some universities don't accept renewals. and i'm doing well this semester I'm taking 11 units and i'm working hard to get my first 4.0 (fingers crossed). So basically I want to know what are some schools that are decent that I have a chance to get into?

so tl;dr version
Mech Engineering major
2.75 gpa and improving
47 units already completed
Don't want to go to school in california mostly because of the cost of living is proving hard to cope with.
What are my options?

thanks in advanced for any advice!
