What are my son's chances?

Nervous parent here. My son has visited the campus three times including meetings with professors and department heads in his areas of interest (Chinese studies and Music). He has decided this is the place for him but I'm not sure (based on what I read in other posts) that he has the complete package they are looking for.

He is ranked 20th out of 421 and will probably go up a couple of spots this year. Unweighted GPA is >3.9. Weighted is ~4.17.
ACT: 32 Comp, 34 Eng, 33 Math, 33 Read, 30 Sci, 9 Writing
SAT: 690 Crit Read, 690 Math, 700 Writing
SAT Subj: 770 US Hist, 700 Math I, 650 Eng Lit
AP: 5 Euro Hist, 5 US Hist, 5 Eng Comp, 4 Psych

He is currently taking AP Spanish, AP Gov, AP Statistics, and AP Music Theory.
He is also in his fourth year of Mandarin language.

He helped to start the mock trial team at his school and he will captain it for the 4th yr in a row. He has numerous awards and accolades as a musician playing piano in the school's competitive jazz band. He is recognized as an all-state French Horn player in PA. He is a member of the Phila Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble. He holds a part time job as an organist at a local church and also substitutes for other organists in the community. He is the student council president and a member of NHS. He volunteers at our local hospital.

I don't know where he is at regarding his essays and I know they are critical to his submission, but does he have much of a chance based on the test scores, etc.?

Thanks for any feedback

GPA and class rank are both very good. Test scores are a little low, but definitely in range. Generally Cornell cares more about GPA/test scores anyway. I would say your son has a good chance of being admitted (relatively speaking), especially if he applies Early Decision. The essay is important, but there’s really no way to evaluate that here.

Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it!

Send ACT instead of SAT. Only need one. Apollyon ED will really up chance. Looks very promising especially after all the interest.
