what are my chances of getting into UH, Texas Tech, University of North Texas, Texas State etc if I got a 1450/2400 and gpa is 3.16? I’m taking the new SAT in October, so yea.
What’s your class rank? Also list all of the colleges you’re applying to, not just “etc.”. I don’t want to list every school in Texas.
I’m in the top half. And the colleges r UH, Texas Tech, University of North Texas, Texas State, and UTD.
Ok, here are the automatic admissions requirements for all of the universities you listed. Just scroll down to see the charts for required class rank and scores.

So essentially you need to raise your SAT pretty significantly to get automatic admissions to some of these schools. If you’re outside of the auto admit range it will be much more difficult to get admitted. Also take note that auto admissions don’t mean you get whatever major you want. If you want to major in something that’s more competitive, like engineering or business, you’ll likely need to score significantly higher than the automatic admission requires. If you can’t secure the requisite SAT score, it would probably be best to attend a local CC and try to transfer to one of these schools. If you do that, just focus on getting the best grades you can at the CC, since none of these schools require your high school transcripts or SAT/ACT scores if you’re applying as a transfer.
Thanks, but I’m not looking for auto admission. Do I have a good shot into getting into the the schools?
If you’re outside of the auto admit range then you don’t have a good chance because that’s how they get the majority of their admissions. You really want to be in that range to have a decent chance of acceptance.
Forget about the auto. Can I still get into the school bcz u can use financial aid to reduce the tuition per year.
You’re not listening. If you’re outside the auto admit range, then these schools are going to be difficult to get into. You become a holistic admit at that point and a ton of variables come into play. You might get in, you might not. More likely not since you’re outside the range. You can’t just forget about automatic admissions in Texas. I don’t know what else to tell you.
