what are my transfer chances? (military service)

Can anyone who knows anything about U of M please tell me what my chances are!!!! I NEEEEEED this!!! Thank you so much.

-Current student at Oakland University
-applied to LSA: feb 27 06
-Type:Transfer student
-credits transferring:about 25
-GPA:3.57
-ACT:27
-Solid essays
-Letter of rec from medical careers teacher
-other:Military veteran (Navy for 3 years)-(in Navy:class leader, meritorious advancement), Board member of OU pre-med society, work as a Patient care tech at a hospital 30 hours/week, Captain of varsity swim team in HS, NHS, Key club, who's who among american HS students, blah blah blah.

I like your chances. You have a decent GPA and a solid ACT score. Of course, your experience with the Navy is a plus. I like your chances, but transfering into Michigan never is easy.

Considering your amount of credits, your HS GPA and such are going to be more important than your college accomplishments (although it will be taken in consideration). Is your 3.57 HS or College?

thats my college gpa...my hs gpa is about a 3.7

You're definitely qualify statistically. With transfers, I think it is important to the ADCOM that one articulates their reasons for wanting to go to U of M and what you'll bring.

GOOD LUCK! Let us know...

well, another friday has passed and still no email! of course I didnt apply until late february. Either they are still workin on it, or that very bad letter is in the mail.

The Director of admissions is a former Air Force guy and one of the Associate Directors is a former Army guy. Michigan has serious respect for military service, so that will work in your favor. Still, transfer admissions isn't easy, and I'm not terribly familiar with that process.

thanks man...appreciate the info still worried, want to get some news SOON!

Hoedown would be a ma'am, not a man! hehe

oops...sorry bout that hoedown....appreciate the info though

just got my deferral letter in the mail today. I cant say Im surprised since i didnt get my app in until late february. Not sure what this means as far as my chances go. Anyone have any ideas? Is this good since I didnt get rejected, or just delaying the rejection till mid april????

Michigan is deferring most of its transfer applicants. So there is very little we can make of your deferral. All you can do is wait and call the university periodically to make sure everything is in order. Keep us posted.
