I am an NJ resident attending a CCC. I want to transfer to Rutgers NB, but specifically the Business School. I heard it is very competitive to get into, other times I see people with a 3.5 get in.
I am starting my fourth semester and at the end of this Spring semester I will have completed 73 credits WITHOUT an Associates Degree with a 3.9 GPA. I will also have 5 of the 6 Rutgers Business School prerequisites done (one was not offered at my CC).
The reason I will not be getting my associates degree is because I needed to take classes that Rutgers requires for the business school as well as classes for my associates degree. The problem is, Rutgers will only accept 60 or 65 transfer credits so any extra credits won’t transfer.
In order to get my Associates Degree, I need two more classes and I will once again have to load up on another 20 credit semester with six classes. I simply cannot jeopardize my GPA, since last semester I took 20 credits and six classes and it was a heavy workload along with extra-curriculars and working 20+ hours a week.
I would rather have 60+ transferable credits with a 3.9 GPA and hair on my head rather than having almost 80 credits and an associates degree with the potential to drop my GPA.
