<p>The regulations were JUST changed. GI education benefits are no longer counted against need. They were not reported on the FAFSA in the past, but they were counted as resources when awarding financial aid. With the change, they are no longer counted as resources. However, GI benefits that are non-educational are reported in the non-taxable income section of the FAFSA and they are counted in the EFC formula.</p>
