What are premeds like at brown?

what are premeds like at brown?

There's definitely a range. Since it's Brown, a lot of them seem more laid back than at other schools -- obviously they're all working really hard to try to get straight A's, but they're probably more likely to help each other out and have a more collaborative than competative attitude. The premeds I know seem pretty much like everybody else -- hardworking and driven, but also funloving and creative. Then again, I'm not a premed and I don't know about premeds at other schools... so I'm not sure how helpful my limited experience would be to you.

i'm likin this. Brown is deff for me....PREMED ALL THE WAY :)

cut-throat

BrownMED is their goal and they will do anything to be one of the few people accepted!

i disagree insecure101.. i dont know which brown premeds you have encountered, but from what i can tell, most are nice and easy going. True, there are always those hardcore students who study orgo for 30 hours a week, but they tend to keep to themselves. Most premeds are not competitive from my experience. The few that are may not go out of their way to help others, but thats a big difference from being cut-throat.

premeds are most definitely not cut throat at brown...it's one of the reasons i chose brown over yale. an upperclassman at brown from my hometown told me he was pre-med at brown but never felt the pressure of being pre-med. he's now at harvard medical school. my experience at brown has been very similar. the curves in pre-med classes are hard, but you take these classes with the same kids for about three years, get to know them pretty well, and like the vast majority of them. it's all very collegial
