Thanks for all of your guy's help! Out of curiousity, what do you think is the boarding school that looks most like a traditional castle? The school with the most modern artitecture? Etc, etc.

St Paul's best education most beautiful mix of traditional and modern!

I've mentioned it before, but MERCERSBURG has an absolutely gorgeous campus that is set gracefully in the hills of Pennsylvania. The campus has an elegant southern open feel, with a beautiful long tree lined drive in, and with beautiful fountains and gorgeous grounds. The new Bergen Center for the Arts is very modern but is an absolutely state-of-the art facility whose dance studios rival that of the Juilliard School and whose auditorium is like a mini New York City Opera. I've been to a lot of schools and this one felt incredible. Unfortunately their website doesn't do it justice but their catalog does somewhat. It's worth a look.

it looks just like my old church!
MA is very nice.

Blairt -- Wow! What a nice thing for you to do! You're amazing! Thanks!

For those of you in the New York area, have you ever seen Hackley?
It looks like Hogwarts!

I’m biased when I say this since I go to Deerfield, but genuinely, Deerfield is has a VERY beautiful campus! Albany Road runs through the campus and it’s stunning. Sometimes, we walk up to The Rock, which is gives us an awesome view of the Deerfield campus and town. But besides that, the buildings at Deerfield are amazing. My favorite building is the Koch Center (Science/Math Classes) :D

Here’s the link to the photo galleries of Deerfield:

In the bitter cold of New England winter, you will be grateful for a compact campus or for tunnels.

Salisbury and Taft both have incredible campuses; great brick buildings and rolling hills. Very New Englandy

Portsmouth Abbey School is right on the bay. Water views abound!

Mercersburg is beautiful AND about ten degrees warmer in the winter than the New England schools. Yes, it’s warmer in the spring too, but the dorms have air conditioning with individual thermostats in each room.

At the end of the day (literally!), it’s the dorms that matter…

Most are beautiful. Cate and Thacher’s take your breath away.

It’s really a hallmark of prep schools to have beautiful buildings and grounds…not sure there’s any way to answer this question, except with pretty much all have something to admire.

I’ve heard that St. George’s in Newport, RI is particularly stunning. They don’t call it “St. Gorgeous” for nothing. Cate seems to have stunning water views as well.

Of the schools we’ve visited, I think SAS (I’m biased, here, of course) and SPS have the nicest campuses when considered in toto (large, private, very nice architecture). Thacher has its own more rustic charm, befitting its location.

BTW, if I hear one more poster (or tour guide, for that matter!) describe their school as “Hogswartsian”, I’m going to cry foul. Of the schools we have visited, Emma Willard takes that crown…hands down.

Agreed. It’s a stunning campus, inside and out.

Agree that SPS is stunning.

DS attends Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. Since it is only 130 acres, it is very easy to navigate the campus, especially in the winter. It was the first high school in Virginia and has much southern architectural charm. Facilities are spectacular. Link to pics:
