what are some colleges with great communication major esp. in public relations?

Here is a brief summary to my current situation. I apologize for its lengthiness:(

I've done lots of research on Google and asking around. Everything thing I've read/ heard from friends, collegeboard to bureau of labor statistics from US Dep. of labor all stress the importance of becoming a successful PR, one has to excel at communicating via writing, in person and on the phone. I connect well with people face to face, on the phone but I'm terrible at writing!

I currently stand at a crossroad facing many dilemmas. I don't know if PR is what i'm truly passionate about but i know i would kill myself i have to sit in a cubical all day processing paperwork (that was my previous job). I love meeting/working with new people, traveling and planning. I wanted to work at a P.R. firms down in Los Angeles to see if its what i'm truly interested before i invest big chuck of money at school however with this bad economy, no previous related work experience and degree, I couldn't find any openings. What do you guys think?

Lastely, what are some colleges with great communication major esp. in public relations?

Thank you:)!

Some schools to check into are Syracuse, NYU, Boston University, Emerson and USC.

Plenty of PR people spend their days in cubicles on the phone and online (my S is one of them). I think you may have an overly glamorous concept of the profession. You might want to ask some of the firms you applied to if you could shadow someone for a couple of days, just to get an idea of what the work really entails. But you really shouldn't be focusing so narrowly at this point. Apply to schools that offer Communications as a potential major, and keep your options open--you never know what might appeal to you as time passes. Very few high school juniors (I'm guessing that's what you are) truly know what they want for a career.
