Using the phrase “if ever” makes your statement more of a sweeping generalization. Without it, you are proposing that taking 13 units a semester is only acceptable if you’re a first-semester freshman. The “if ever” phrase serves to suggest that even as a first-semester freshman, you should take more than 13 units.

This is a sweeping generalization because nobody needs to take 15 or 16 units a semester. Many students come in with enough transferrable coursework such that they only have to take 2 breadth courses. As such, they can take 13 units and get away with it. Furthermore, many graduating seniors take less than 13 units during their last semester and pay partial tuition through Berkeley extension. Do they really need to take more than 13 when they have enough units?

A more coherent statement would be-- Take enough units so you’re on track for graduation, but don’t overload your schedule.

Try Slavic 50 (intro to russian/east european/eurasian). It’s 3 units and satisfies the Int’l Studies req.

Slavic 50=intro to russian/east european/eurasian studies

hey so i am 2 units short of 13
are there any 2 unit classes?
should i take 2 1-unit classes?

PS 179 is an awesome 1 unit class, PH 107 is an easy 2 unit class.

If you just need a number of non-major upper div units, four semesters of 1 unit classes are just as useful as one 4 unit class.

anon2528462: i meant that psychology or ib classes are relatively easy compared to other classes. of course certain upper div psy or ib classes are harder than even mcb, cs, eng classes, but relatively they are easier.

BTW, anyone have adderall?

Bump ^ his question.
