What are some examples of underrepresented minorities? Puerto Ricans? Muslims?

no ... its not religion based... its like if the majority of your race does not attend college ... for instance african am. Native AMericans, Hispanics..

not examples : white, asians etc... pretty much everyone else
mainly because even though asians are a minority a large percent of the asian pop. goes to college

hispanics, african-americans and native americans

URM can also be ie.....survivor of 911 or other other well known incident. I had a kid in a class who had survived Chernobyl. You would be surprised what can count as URM.

"What are some examples of underrepresented minorities? Puerto Ricans? Muslims?"

-Hmm. This doesn't even sound like a real question to me.

"URM can also be ie.....survivor of 911 or other other well known incident. I had a kid in a class who had survived Chernobyl. You would be surprised what can count as URM."

-I also find this ridiculous....

That would be more of a hook, not a minority.

Anyone who is not white, Asian, Jewish, or an international applicant is a URM.

I didn't say it made sense or was valid I just said that it could include many different types of applicants. Low income is treated at a URM.

A college or university, organization, or academic program will usually identify what it means by a urm, which sometimes includes white females (underrepresented in science & engineering), i.e.

The definition of underrepresented minorities is provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges and consists of American Indians, Alaskan and Hawaiian natives, Black/African Americans, Mexican Americans/Chicanos and Puerto Ricans (mainland). Other Hispanics/Latinos are included because they are a significantly underrepresented minority in California.
