What are some excellent community service ideas?

<p>I have some time that I did at the humane society and some charity events I played music for. I know that these are ok but what are some great community service things to have on a resume? Does it matter as long you show a genuine interest/passion for whatever you're doing? </p>

<p>You know that community service isn’t necessary to get into any school right?</p>

<p>Anything you do that raises a large amount of money, mobilizes a group of people to do something like build a Habitat House, or otherwise makes an impact. This impact can be as “small” as helping a kid raise their math grade or as big as raising thousands for relief efforts. </p>

<p>It’s best to pick one type of community service and focus on that rather than just collecting scattered CS hours. Even better for you to relate it to your other ECs–playing music, for example.</p>
