I live in TX & I've applied to UT Austin,a&m, tcu, Harvard, Cornell, and Boston College, all RD. I was wondering if you can recommend some good but still fun backup schools? I was thinking Ole Miss?

You are not in the auto-admit range of UT Austin and Texas A&M?

Seems like the most obvious backups would be other Texas public universities where you would be in the auto-admit range, assuming the deadlines have not passed and you can afford them.

No auto admit is top 10% and my high school is ver competitive only 1 person from top 10 (which is 9 at my school) is going to ut the rest are going to ivies, MIT, or Norte dame.
I don’t think there are many good schools in tx I would still like. I have auto admit to tx state but it has a bad reputation.

Test scores & grades ?

What can your family afford? What are your stats?

try UVA, USC, or UCLA. they are all good schools with academic reputations, but they are known for good partying as well

You’ve missed a lot of deadlines for schools that might give you scholarship consideration.

Back up schools must be affordable. How much will your parents pay?

What are your test scores and GPA? What is your major?

UArk gives instate rates to Texas students with certain stats. Don’t know if there is a deadline for that.

*I am Hispanic and have lived abroad as a diplomat several times.
I am completely bilingual in Spanish & English.
I struggle with very bad and unmediated ADHD but have managed a 3.6 out of 4 gpa in my rigorous private high school (got it up from a 3.2 freshman year)
My essays reflect my struggles adapting to foreign cultures and unique perspective regarding diversity. They also speak to my problems with ADHD but the benefits of it as well.
My ECs are pretty decent & I founded a Spanish club at my school.
SAT:
700 reading
650 writing
480 math
…I know I am ridiculously bad at math…
Plan to retake in January & expect 510 in math and 700 in writing
Sat 2- lit: 650 Spanish:700
Ap- language: 4 Spanish: 5
I had two high level gov officials one from mex one from usa write personal additional recommendations for me speaking of my diplomatic qualities as it is what I plan to pursue vocationally. *

Much will depend on how much your parents will pay. Your M+CR is a 1180. don’t know if that’s high enough for instate rates at UArk or for merit at Ole Miss.

I don’t need financial aid, I have 500k+college fund.

If you can get 1200 on the SAT CR+M or 26 on the ACT, then you have assured admission to UT Dallas:

Check other Texas public universities for their thresholds.

Did you apply to Texas Tech? I’m not sure where it falls on the Texas hierarchy of higher education, but it would probably be a good safety. University of Mississippi’s Croft Institute is excellent for foreign relations, so by all means apply.

Then apply to the various mid-tier flagships that interest you…Ole Miss, Alabama, UArizona, etc. These will all likely accept you.

Thanks for all the great input !
A lot of my friends didn’t really like tech. But I’m applying to ole miss now and probably Alabama too!

The Alabama app is easy and fast. Bama will likely accept you if you get your app in soon…don’t wait.
