What are some good college choices for me?

So, i'm in kind of a bad situation. I didn't think I would be able to apply for good schools, so I was just going to attend our state university. As it turns out I just got a 28 on the ACT today and I'm now looking at colleges. I know it's late but as long as I can get in, I will look at the schools later. I just need opinions on schools that I will be able to get accepted in to.

Here is some general info:

28 ACT
3.76 GPA unweighted(i screwed up freshmen year and it's been on the rise since)
Top 25% of class
Student body treasurer - It's really important in Kansas because you attend a big student council workshop.
Foreign Language club president
Officer among other clubs
Boy's state
6+ years work experience
Varsity Track & Field for 3 years
I've taken 1 AP test, and I'm in 3 AP Classes this year. Our school offers 5 total. I got a 1due to my lack of motivation in AP euro so I don't think i should report that? This year im in AP literature, AB Calculus and Biology.

Cost and financial aid constraints, state of residency (Kansas?), and intended or possible majors would help others suggest appropriate schools.

Unfortunately, being late in the process, it may already be too late for many of the big stats-based merit scholarships (e.g. UAB, where you’d qualify for Blazer Elite if they have any left, which they may not).

Cost and demographic location is not a problem for now. I do live in kansas, but Kansas but does not provide the best array of colleges. I intend to go into business and most likely, finance.

From what you are saying, you don’t consider KU to be a good school. Is the University of Iowa good enough for you? If so, they have rolling admissions and you may receive some merit aid. Go to their website and look for the RAI, put in your data and you will know if you will be accepted. Once you apply, they respond very quickly with the acceptance.

Yes KU is a fine school but it is not very selective. It’s what you make of it. I was wondering what more selective private colleges I may be able to get into. like Villanova or University of Michigan perhaps.

Freshman admission to U Michigan College of Business is very selective…33 avg ACT and 3.9 GPA…you might get into Michigan but not business. You can apply once at Michigan but admission will still be very selective.

Go to the Nova site and check the admissions details.

Good Colleges for Undergrad Business ([Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2011 - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?))

Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management

UC Berkeley- Haas

Emory University - Goizueta

Georgetown - McDonough

Boston College - Carroll

Babson College (Business college)

University of Southern California - Marshalls

Wake Forest

Tulane University - Freeman

Bentley University (MA) the regular decision deadline is January 15th.

The 28 with just top 25% rank is not putting you in range for the top B schools. Iowa is probably your best shot. Your family needs to decide if it’s worth the OOS tuition. You may eek into UMich but you’ll have to do well there to get into Ross.
