What are some good conservative schools?

....preferably religiously affiliated. I'm talking about schools like Notre dame, or Baylor, BYU, Pepperdine, etc etc...doesn't have to be a religious school, can be schools that are socially conservative and such..any ideas?

Boston College.

Thank you! but BC is way too hard to transfer into, so I’ve crossed that school off already, although it would be amazing to go there I’m sure

Are you any particular religion? Or, would any brand be ok…Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, etc…

What is your likely major (If I remember correctly…business? maybe accounting?)

You’re a transfer student, right?

St Marys in Moraga
Spring Hill
U of Dallas

And…various southern schools - many schools in the south are more conservative than other schools. However, that really just means that many of them are more “middle of the road” or “bit right of center” than other schools. But, with many campuses being left of center, a school that is “middle” or “just right of center” can seem conservative. It’s all relative. :)

My kids’ college is Alabama, but it was Obama Country in 2008. However, I would classify their school as “middle and a bit right of center.” The profs and students are the full spectrum.

Yeshiva University

Even schools like Notre Dame and Boston College are not really conservative–just compared to their peers they are. In the grand spectrum they are more moderate.
Schools like BYU and Liberty would be truly conservative. Also Wheaton in Illinois.

Others that are conservative and non-religious would be the military academies and schools like VMI, Norwich, and the Citadel.

I heard someone describe Furman as conservative the other day.

Mostly every school in Texas is conservative if it helps :)

* Are you any particular religion? Or, would any brand be ok…Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, etc…*

I’m Catholic but any brand is fine…and yes I’m a Business major…

Already got Furman on my list, so thanks for that suggestion!

*Mostly every school in Texas is conservative if it helps *

Already eyeing Baylor and TCU, so yeah, Texas is definitely on my radar!

I realize there aren’t that many “truly” conservative schools, but I guess I’m just looking towards the socially conservative types, which is why I’m sort of shying away from crazy state schools, although I definitely will check those out (for example, I looked at Tennessee for a brief while, and they are no doubt one of the big party schools, which doesn’t exactly fit my profile)

Furman is a good recommendation, my D is a freshman there. The student body in general seems to be a little more conservative than other colleges we visited. St Olaf, a Lutheran college also has a more conservative culture.

Friends daughters went to Hillsdale. the school does not take any Federal money and is conservative, probably the antithesis of Hampshire.

Duke, Davidson, Dartmouth, Notre Dame, Holy Cross, Colgate.

Washington and Lee. Sewanee? Texas A and M. Elon? VMI!

Actually, Boston College and most of the jesuit schools are very liberal. ND is slightly more conservative, but it is still a university. If you are looking for the Fox News type of conservative, you are likely going to have to look to the south.

I feel like BYU has to be the kingpin of conservative schools.

*

Hillsdale actually looks nice, and apparently dirt cheap too, if I read it right. Anyone else have any info on it, or should I make a whole separate thread for it? Only thing that concerns me is that it’s sort of middle of the pack in terms of rankings, although that doesn’t bother me since I’m applying to some lower ranking schools anyway…

* Sewanee? Texas A and M. Elon? VMI! *

Thanks Endicott for those suggestions! I originally had Sewanee on my list but I’m not sure if I really want such an isolated campus, although it is awesome! Elon could be a possibility, and Texas A&M I probably can’t get in from out-of-state anyway…

Please keep those suggestions coming!

BYU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Miami of Ohio, The Citadel, Davidson, Wheaton College

Villanova perhaps? Good business program and is Catholic. Not sure about its political leaning though I imagine it is less liberal that other schools in the Philly area.

Duke isn’t really conservative.

Ha! Villanova is one of my two top choices right now, so it’s definitely on The List!!! I LOVE the Philly area
