i'm BME/premed... just wondering which classes really help for MCATs.... certain bio classes, chem classes, physics classes, biochem classes, etc?!? i'm thinking about taking both semesters for biochemistry for the MCATs... i heard that it might help

Classes that help:

1). Orgo
2). Physics 53/54 (non engineers), Physics 61/62/63 (engineers)
3). Gen Chem (21/22/23)
4). Bio 25/26

Those classes should cover the majority of the topics in the Physical Science and Life Science sections of the MCATs

Don't forget Bio 118

The ones already mentioned + Bio 117 and Bio 150 (physiology) for supplemental instruction. If you look at the sample BME schedule for premeds on the Pratt website, it gives a pretty good detailing of what classes to take to prepare and when.

Preparing for the MCAT you need Bio 25. Physics is also a must. (61/62 at least and the 63 is cool if you have AP credit) You don't need Biochem for the MCAT. (there is none) There is also a lot less orgo than you think on the MCAT. (I've even heard rumors of its eventual extinction)

Also physiology is a great class and is BIO 151 (not 150). You probably won't be able to take 117 or 118 as a premed unless you also take another upper level bio class as most schools require a year of biology with lab. (and 117/118 don't have labs) But really most of the bio on the MCAT is more on the bio 25 spectrum. I'd really just recommend an MCAT prep course or book when it comes time for you to take the MCAT as that should get you all the science review you need. (kaplan is pricey but worthwhile)
