What are some good reach and match schools for me.

I have noticed that Supermatch uses incorrect gpa and Sat averages, it doesn’t also take into account other things so I am looking towards the college confidential community for help at looking for schools. The Criteria I am looking for are schools with strong academics, and good post-graduation job placement, urban environment or close to urban environment, on the east coast, good social life would be a plus but not necessary). I haven’t decided what I would be majoring in but I would definitely go to a liberal arts college. I would love to hear people’s personal experiences.

My resume is

3.57 gpa unweighted (I think I could bring it up to a 3.6)

1950 SAT

I took 5 AP’s (Euro, US History, Bio, Lang, Lit) I got 5’s on Euro, US, and Bio and 4’s on lang and lit.)

Besides the AP courses I have mostly taken honor courses with the exceptions of regular prep geo my freshmen year.

I also have numerous academic awards

Member of schools science club for 3 years

Member of schools history club for 3 years

Member of Schools community service club for 3 years (I held leadership positions for all 4 years)

Member of environmental club for 3 years (Held leadership positions junior and senior year)

National Honor Society 1 year

Spanish Honor Society 1 year

Volunteer at camp for children with disabilities for four years

Volunteer at shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault victims where I was a youth leader whose main job was to spread awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence

I was the youngest person on the planning committee of an organization that helped with the environment for 4 years

I volunteered at the towns historical for 4 years where I also became the youngest person on the board of directors

I know I will have excellent recommendations and all the classes I took connected to my extracurricular interests as well. I would hope that would soon commitment to the fields I am interested in

You’re saying your requirements and stats are enough outside of the supermatch engine that it doesn’t give you good results?

No it is just that supermatch, college board, and other sites and they give me all different results. I was hoping that people with first hand experience at other schools could give me their perspective. Experience can never be replaced by some computer algorithm or search engine.

I’d start by looking through some college guide books (I like Princeton Review and Fiske but thee are many others out there) as well as your HS Naviance system if you have it to get a sense of where you might fit in academically and talk to your parents about finances so you can weigh in the need for aid,

A few schools I can think of offhand (either LACs or mid-sized universities which have small classes) to consider might be Fordham, Goucher, Loyola-MD, Brandeis, Villanova, Haverford, and if you are female you might also include Barnard and Bryn Mawr.

Thanks

You didn’t ask, but I’m going to mention it anyway: Dump all those school clubs in which you don’t have a leadership role or a sincere interest. You have some really interesting ECs - and some clear themes in your interests - but they will be lost in all the resume padding.

And if you were willing to look beyond the east coast, there are several attractive urban LACs like Macalester and Reed that might be good fits in addition to those already mentioned. And if you are a guy, don’t rule out Vassar.

Attainable Reach: Vassar, Tufts, Brandeis
Match: Tulane, Skidmore, Elon
Safety: Clark, Wooster

George Washington University, Lehigh University, Canisius College, Case Western Reserve University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Trinity College, Connecticut College

Northeastern, Boston College, Trinity College, NYU, Barnard (for women), URochester
