What are some nice Science exams out of school for interested students?

I know of AMC in math and I am searching similar tests in science, I mean to talk about talent contests or olympiads, not research contests but written contests with normal questions not impossible ones. And I tried USABO but my school doesn’t participate in it and the f=ma exam is too tough.

Our kids’ school didn’t participate in the USABO either, but it isn’t widely expensive to register a school (I feel like it was maybe $75 or something?). My kid worked with a bio teacher at the school and ask if they would register the school if we paid for it, and he proctored her exams. Now… it is tough to study alone for the USABO, it would be a lot more fun if there was a team to study with. Maybe you could get a few friends to do it together?

However, you are going to find that all of these types of tests are very tough, none are easy.

Do you have Quiz Bowl at your school? Those teams are often looking for students who have good general knowledge of science & math.

Some states have statewide competitions.

USABO is pretty cheap, if you get like five people together you can split the cost (if your school doesn’t subsidize).

Why do you want to find a science contest with questions that aren’t too tough? Is this for a college resume or for your personal enjoyment?

By too tough I just mean that they are not impossible questions with long answers, I want tests which are normal in difficulty but they may need quick speed etc. This is for my personal enjoyment.

Hm. So you’re saying you just want to compete because it interests you? That’s the best reason. Ummm unfortunately I don’t know of any tests besides USABO and Science Olympiad (but that’s a team competition which takes a bunch of people). I did the research stuff, which was more interesting to me, but I’ve been through the science circuits and I honestly don’t think there are any more science competitions.

There is a Chem Olympiad, I think. I feel like it is harder to sign up for, though (don’t remember details, I think I Googled it once).
