I have orientation next week and I was looking at the requirements for FKL and it's overwhelming viewing the course offerings for the humanities requirement. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions about freshman courses that were particularly more enjoyable or unique than others? I'm not asking for the 'easiest' classes, just the most mentally stimulating I guess.
Also, as a side note, if you have AP/IB course credits that can apply to these requirements (For example according to the website and my AP/IB scores I earned credit for ENC 1101, PSY 2012, and BSC 1005) do advisers suggest you fill those spaces with advanced classes or electives?

i used ratemyprofessor and found the good teachers for each class… i’d recommend you do the same lol

Well it’s really up to you. If you don’t need anything in that FKL category but there is a class in that section that sounds fun that you really want to take then by all means go for it. Esp if you are contemplating a minor and that class would count for it. A lot of my students enjoy THE 2252 Great Performances on Film (FKL fine art), but it will likely depend on what’s still open and fits your schedule. Orientation will be the first day you can register but you’ll be able to add/drop/change all summer until Friday of the first week of classes. Once you register, email the professor and get the syllabi. By looking at the workload and pace and book you can decide if the class will be something you will enjoy. Good luck!

Just thought of something. If you need FKL humanities credits look into the CLEP exams for Am History. Taking (and passing) both exams should close out that section. :)

The THE 2252 film course was ok and was easy…watch movies and write papers about 'em. I enjoyed another FKL course too that I took my very first semester at USF… AFA 2000: Introduction to the Black Experience [In Africa and Its Diaspora]

I would take Great Performances on Film again. We got to watch film clips and a full film every week with six or seven easy quizzes and three short papers on films you watch outside of class.
