What are some of the best things about Florida State University?

I'm currently a junior in high school & seriously can't wait to call myself a Seminole! I've done a lot of research but the internet only gives so much information. So from students that actually attend FSU, what makes it the right choice? What are some things you absolutely love about the school? For example, the campus, the people, the dorms, the academics, anything! Lol, any feedback & information is welcome & greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
- A gator hater ;)

Like most Universities, there’s something for everyone. There’s ******bags and there are very cool people. Some dorms are great, others suck. Some degrees are best received here, others are best received elsewhere.

Only you can tell if FSU is good for you. Keep in mind that FSU is FSU because the people at UF are not at FSU. Since you’re a Gator hater, you may quite enjoy your time here, although hating the gators is only a part-time affair.

As an FSU grad…teasing UF grads is really limited to sports competitions.

Please keep it in perspective. :)

Thank you parent2noles…

FSU is stronger in undergraduate education

You’ll love the pollen in the spring. Nothing better than driving around town with a green car!

Well since the others failed to mention an important person, I’ll break the ice:

satscholar!

Haha all jokes aside (or are they? hmmm)

FSU offers you great academics, meh sports, great people, great interactions, and a great mascot can’t eat you.

first class facilities
caring faculty and staff
campus landscape is among most beautiful in the nation
classic college town adds to the overall experience
whiel sports are front and center students are the focus of this univeristy not athletics
good natured nice looking student body

HATING THE GAYTORS IS A FULL TIME AFFAIR AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. I am glad you are u are so excited to go there…you will have the time of your life…as I did. I miss it so much that I have not missed a home game since graduation in 07.

Kristen

FSU was declared a “budget Ivy” by Edward Fiske of the Fiske Guide to Colleges.

What I miss most is the school spirit! Which is lacking at my current school. But that maybe because I’m in a graduate program.

school spirit is definitely a strong suit here! i also love the beautiful campus, the circus, the strip, mr.robotos, the night nole, the garnet and gold boys and the list goes on.
you’ll love your time here, especially if you’re already a gator hater ;)

And even then there is no contest. ;)

Apparently, you missed the college world series… and the whole college baseball season for that matter.

College World Series? What’s that?

Gfg will be depressed when FSU starts beating UF again in football. ;)

FSU paid a very high price to keep BB around so long. :(

Still, both FSU and UF deserve high praise for [each making the Top 5 in the Director’s Cup recently](http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/d1final.pdf). Huge accomplishment.

p2n, you must be all cried up by now huh? ;)

You know you have something special at FSU when gaytors have to come to the forum to try to bash.

Love the attitude at FSU, and love the Seminoles that knew what they wanted, knew what they needed, and turned down UF for FSU.

Love the friendliness that is pervasive. Love it that FSU wants potential students to know what it is that FSU has to offer, rather than taking the attitude that the student needs to prove they have something to bring to the table. Love the way Tallahassee loves the U and the students. Every year at move in time, the smiles and the holding open of doors and the assistance from perfect strangers at Walmart and Target and the like is contagious.

Love game weekends and downtown getdown.
Love the fact that you can find your place as a greek or an independent.
Love the opportunities for research and internships.
Love the connection students feel, so much so that they often stay summers even when they don’t have to.
Love depth and breadth of graduation and professional programs.
Love the volunteer opportunities and the student run philanthropies.
Love the multicultural groups and the strolls esp on Wednesdays.
Love the respect that is shown to veterans on campus, at games, etc. Love the flyovers at football games.

^Love this post! :D

Here are a couple more to add to your list:

Love all the extra space and leg room at the FSU home games now that most of the stadium is empty.

Love that I could buy home game tickets from the FSU box office at any time because there are always extra tickets available.

Go Noles!

:D

You know, gfg…the last time the 'Noles played Saban’s Alabama (2007 - Jacksonville, FL) we beat them.

How about UF???

:D
