What are some of your dreams & aspirations? How do you want to 'change' the world?

Finish Cornell with honors in physics and then move on to Harvard/Princeton for grad school. Next, work for some crazy hedge fund and come up with a new formula which looks solid on the outside but intrinsically tears the market at the seams and then leaves the country in shreds; all the while i make bank and move to France to spend my Godly amount of money on hookers and cocaine.

Finish getting my Associates, transfer to a top undergraduate school, get my commission in the Air Force and get deferred to Duke Law school, and eventually become a United States Senator for NY. I have my fingers crossed!

@kaulitz: I want to go to Reed too! Maybe we think alike…
Except I’m not going into anything science-y, I’m a HUGE HUGE French lover. Languages in general, really, but French is my current baby.
Realistic dream: Be that high school teacher that you remember for years to come, the one who changes your life. I want to do that by hoping to instill in someone else the same love for French I’ve held since 8th grade (rising senior now). I want to show someone its beauty, its rich history, etc. I could go on, haha.
Less realistic dream: Double major in linguistics/French (not so unrealistic yet, though), contribute in research to find the original language, if there is one; hell, I’d be happy with helping to reconstruct Indo-European. Open schools in underdeveloped countries to teach English while simultaneously learning the grammar of said country/village/whatever. Or, hey, just completing the grammar of an unknown language would be cool too :)

I’m going to become the greatest filmmaker of all time

I would like to get my undergrad pertaining to social welfare/business administration but have a premed focus as well. And minor in something pertaining to theater/dance. I want to work as a social worker as I go through med-school as a back-up plan as well as to provide for med-school financially. After that I do would like to become a psychiatrist.

In terms of how I want to “change” the world:

I really want to be able to open up my own practice and theatre company (quite unrealistic). I would like to be that guide for many young adults to be able to step outside their comfort zone. I want to work with young adults. Whether it be treating mental disorders or guiding those who want to pursue the arts as a career without the added pressure.

It’s not a really big dream…but just to know I’ve made a difference in a teenager’s life is a dream of mine. Because I’ve gone through a lot since my freshmen year and I never really had that guidance. I want to be that person that I would have needed.

I want to have influence over young people, through the art world and change people’s negative predispostions towards lots of issues, including homosexuality. I want to encourage others to be happy and to promote an unjudgemental lifestyle.

I want to also use my influence to help animals! I want to promote the vegan lifestyle and teach others that respecting all forms of life is necessary.

^ Plants are a form of life.

I hear if you listen closely you can hear a plant scream as they’re cut

Plants give you oxygen while living; animals take it away.

I want to become a history teacher or professor and teach my students that history is, contrary to popular youth opinion nowadays, very interesting and worth one’s time to comprehend and analyze.

Before that though, I want to serve as a United States Navy SEAL because that is the most I am capable of doing for me, my country, and its people.

I’m planning on majoring in advertising and I eventually want to be an exec at a successful agency, but one that makes a difference. Maybe non-profit work.

I’ll be attending the University of Texas at Austin in the fall. I plan on getting a degree in Music Education and hope on becoming a band director for high school age kids. I would like to instill an appreciation of music into all the young and developing minds.

Most posters on CC will never accomplish anything great as most lack creativity and just look for a good diploma to have a mediocre life with a well-paying job.

Just look at the replies to this thread

“I just want to get a good education and get a good job.”

Pathetic.

^ that was one guy, others here were kinda cool

Precognition, please read several posts before posting and making yourself look ignorant.

I’m (at the moment) rather successful in my school mock trial team. Right now I have a passion for law, and I love to write-- i’m aspiring to become an attorney and live the all American dream as of now. you?

You know, I have amazingly huge aspirations, and yet I’m tremendously lazy when it comes to studying. I’m working on that though, and I’ve noticed that when it comes to actually working and using my creativity (for something I actually like to do of course) I don’t mind it one bit.

I initially wanted to be a doctor and help accomplish some breakthrough cure for AIDS or something but somewhere down the line I changed my mind and settled more on technology. Someday I hope to help make things that substitute human limbs (in every single way, down to the neurology of its communications with the brain) for those who have lost something, or for blindness or deafness. The thing is, there’s already great progress happening in that field, so I don’t know if by the time that I actually get into it (I assume when I begin my Master’s/Ph.D. or so) it would already have progressed to that point (seems unlikely though) or will have become just evolved enough that I could help significantly. Hoping for the latter  And that I meet some people as interested in the field as I am because obviously it’s not a one man job. I wouldn’t mind acting as a college professor while working on that, because it’d obviously take years of work  In other words, I’m interested in both biology and electronics. So I’m considering biomedical engineering as a major.

Alternative dreams include opening a successful company with a huge impact on the market (such as MSFT/Apple) in the same field - software/hardware.

Haha, I’m sure we all know where you’re coming from. ;)

I hope I can contribute in some way by advocating
World peace
Cleaner energy/no more oil spills
education for all children around the world
I`d like to think it does take a village to make the world a better place

“I want to go to Reed and study more than anyone else in the planet.I want to be with people who think in way I do(no arrogance). As an aspiring theoretical physics, I would like to research on quantum and electrodynamics and come with some electrifying results which would change the notion of this very universe forever.Having accomplished these things, I would like to enjoy my life to the fullest extent.Yes, fullest extent! Travel all the way round the world, bungee jump from a height so thrilling and killing, swim to the depths of pacific and if possible meet the little mermaid, have a cappuccion in the Central Perk and finally be with my family for ever.”

What?
