I want to build a solid repertoire of dance tracks for parties. Please don't include any crunk music, or any music which will result in me having to awkwardly grind with my gal friends.

Anything by the Black-Eyed Peas. Very dance-able.

.-_-.

a few justin timberlake songs from his new album

you're gonna have to put some hip hop though, because i have never heard of a good dance mix without it...but no one will force you to awkwardly grind...hopefully

anything by !!!, DFA '79, LCD soundsystem, or (I'll lose pretentious hipster points for this, but oh well) The Faint

Could anybody give me suggestions about Euro-style synthpop techno? I'm pretty knowledgable about most types of music, but I'm totally in the dark in that genre.

Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiesto, Chemical Brothers

Oakenfold, Darude, Axwell are all good. Go to itunes and then radio. Then top40/pop. Find Soundic Radio and listen to it for a week. Its Swedish and plays a lot of Euro dance tracks. You will pick up quickly.

If you want to dance, go with hip-hop (I second the Black-Eyed Peas)..I don't really ever listen to it by myself, but it's kind of hard to dance at parties to anything without synthetic "instrumentals."

Some of my friends listen to Indian music called bhangra and it's fun to dance to. Sadly, I can't actually understand the lyrics, but the music's nice and upbeat and it has an Eastern vibe that sounds cool to me because it's exotic haha.

Bathory, Cryptopsy, Decapitated, Exhumed, Exodus, Gorgoroth, Immolation, Napalm Death, Death

Sexy back is a great song to dance to.
