What are some schools that are more heavy on test-scores/lenient with lower GPA?

My ACT is a 36 but my UW GPA is around 3.6/3.7. I’ve heard Vanderbilt is heavy with test scores. What are some other schools that are known to place more emphasis on test scores? Thanks!

Schools publish this in their common data set, rating each criterion Very Important, Important, Considered or Not Considered. Vanderbilt considers test scores “Very Important”. For example, see the “Selection of Students” section here: http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=1562.

Good luck!

I think you mean top schools.
I’m guessing but I think Duke, Dartmouth, Emory, USC, Rice, CMU, WashU, Swarthmore.

Almost all schools will have GPA as “very important” , but many will have test scores only as “important” or “considered”’. You’ll want to concentrate on schools that list test scores as “very important” like Vanderbilt.

GPA represents your effort and your learning/prep for their college classes. All top schools will want to see you did well in hs.

They don’t just look at test scores or GPA. They look at the freaking transcript. It matters what brought down GPA. Lower grades in cores, especially those related to your possible major, not good. No matter what the CDS says.

You’ve got to learn what matters to your targets. Not just ask how stats play. Be savvy.
