What are some schools that don't look @ SAT Writing?

I'm wondering if anyone has info on schools that don't look at SAT writing sections for SAT. I have always done good on the CR and M but horrible on the writing. A list of schools would be great.

hmm, i have heard Georgetown does not. I could be totally off but thats what one of my friends said.

University of Chicago states that they don't look at writing scores

not to hijack this thread... but

does anyone know if
Cornell
Brown
Columbia
MIT
Hopkins
Northwestern
BC

do?

Notre Dame does not look at writing scores.

how about critical reading? lol. writing and math are easy, but, of course, that is subjective to the student.

Colgate doesn't look at writing.

An admissions officer from Rice University told me they completely disregard the writing score when evaluating applicants.

I know Reed does not look at it either!

no rice does

the admin officers say so. after all, rice used to require , before the new sat, the writing sat 2; it only makes sense.

^Well then we obviously received conflicting answers.

This is approximately how our conversation happened.

Me: I noticed when you described the average SAT scores you used the 1600 scale. Is there any reason for that? I mean, are only math and cr taken into account?

Admission Officer: Well, at this point, there isn't enough evidence to prove that the writing section can be used as an accurate predictor of college success so no, we don't take it into consideration.

Great list , what is the source?

I forgot, sorry. Some website helping students with admissions.

KAPLAN EXCLUSIVE: New SAT Scoring Policies from 374 Top Schools

Kaplan is the source , assume they are accurate?

how does that list clarify anything?

it says

“schools plan to give the Writing section More Weight, Equal Weight, Lesser Weight, or No Weight relative to the Math and Critical Reading sections this year, or else are Undecided.”

that doesn’t answer the question, it doesn’t answer anything, actually, because every possible option of what to do with the writing is on there. You basically just listend 375 colleges and then made no relevant statement about them.

OP asked for a list of schools that “don’t look at the SAT writing”. The list posted is very helpful and comprehensive for all the options. The category of “No weight” would indicate those schools that don’t take the writing section score into consideration at all. Therefore, someone who is strong in CR and Math but not writing could focus on those colleges that give no weight to the writing. Seems like a great list to me.

List says CMC is undecided. Per their admissions director this year – writing portion of SAT= NO WEIGHT

@ js1011

Learn to read. I’m assuming you thought the list was just a jumble of random schools. The schools are actually separated into five sections, based on whether they give more weight, equal weight, less weight, no weight, or are undecided about the writing section.
