What are some schools that I can get a full ride or mostly paid scholarship with my grades

I have a 85.8823 GPA (which is a 3.435292 according to the x*4/100 formula my counselor gave me)
My rank is 202/597
Highest ACT so far - 26 with a 9 on the writing
50 hours community service

I only want schools in which I can get a full ride, full scholarship or get a scholarship that will pay off most expenses or college that will. If it is relevant my father makes $700 a month and my sister is a full time med school not on scholarship and no source of income. My mother does not work.

Thanks

What year are you in high school?

See the list of automatic scholarships that members here have compiled. There are a couple that you qualify for something from, Alabama State, Tuskegee which I think are HBCUs. Look it over. If you are serious about getting more large awards you need to try the SAT and get either an ACT or SAT up and get over a 3.5 gpa.

There may be colleges that will give you something, not necessarily automatic, but I don’t know what to suggest. Waht is your state?

Schools with good need-based financial aid may also be affordable for you. However, most of these schools are very selective, so getting the grades and test scores up is necessary to open up more options here. You can use the net price calculators on college web sites to get financial aid estimates.

For competitive large merit scholarships, you can look at this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1461983-competitive-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html

To be a competitive candidate for merit scholarships, you should target schools where your stats are in the school’s top 25%.

doesn’t everyone?

If your family income is that low, you likely will qualify for a Pell Grant of $5730, and a Direct Loan of $5500 for your freshman year. That will pay for you to attend a community college if you commute from home.

To get a full ride…totally paying for all costs to attend, you will need to raise your ACT and GPA. Those full rides are very competitve and not very plentiful.

Your income is such that a school that meets full need for ALL would likely provide you with good need based aid, but at this time, your GPA and ACT score would not make you a competitive applicant for these schools.

If you are a junior, you might consider trying the SAT. Some students do better on that.

Look at the link in post 2. There might be something there…

Berea College in Berea, KY is tuition-free for low income students. Your stats look competitive for admission. Good luck.

Im currently a Junior and im hoping to bring my grades up
