What are some schools with good marching bands?

And preferably with a not so shabby football team to go with it, but it's not a must..

Also, please suggest schools other than the really well-know and popular ones, like USC or Ohio State, I wouldn't be able to get auditioned into a spot with those bands anyway..

USC does have a great band. You are in Newport Beach…many students from your high school band must be part of the USC band. Have you talked to any of them?

In all the football travel we’ve done, the other band that really stands out for me is Notre Dame. The Notre Dame fans lined up to cheer the band as they walked across campus to the stadium. At the beginning of the game, the Notre Dame band played the opposing team’s fight song to welcome them. I was really impressed.

Penn State!

What else can you do when your stadium/campus is isolated from the rest of the sourrounding area? Michigan fans and band do the same thing, only there is the rest of Ann Arbor to provide a bit of a distraction. In the meantime, can anyone please address the OP’s original question?

UW-Madison, Michigan, Minnesota, and probably most rest of the Big Ten.

Texas-Austin, 'Bama, Tennessee, and a lot of the bigger Southern Universities.

UCLA and ASU!!!

UMass Amherst. :D

It seems everybody has forgotten the best d*** band in the land, OHIO STATE!!

Edit: So turns out I only read the first half of the OP’s post ha…my bad

I have and it is after talking to them that I decided not to pursue USC’s band…

Thanks for all other suggestions, will definitely check those out…

Maybe schools that have bigtime football, but are are smaller than the average big state university football powerhouse…such as Wake Forest, Clemson, Boston College, TCU, SMU, Mississippi, Arkansas, Rice, Baylor, Georgia Tech,

UNC has a good football program (now) and a great marching band.
