I think I make up for mediocre grades (weighted 92) with excellent extra curriculars and I want to get into the best schools possible. Which schools will truly appreciate my ECs
Completely based off personal opinion, I seems like the top LACs will be the most lenient of lower grades. My hypothesis is because there is simply less scrutiny of their scores, and most have a philosophy that emphasizes a cohesive, diverse class, which seems to focus more on the actual person. Additionally, they have less applicants, so I’m sure they spend more time on each person when it comes to sifting through all the applications.
I also know that University of Chicago loves their essays – maybe an indication they’re not so focused on scores?
If you search for common data sets, you can see what aspects a specific college considers most important. Officially, at least.
Try the LAC’s that are Test-optional. They are usually very holistic (as holistic as a college can be) and look at all the areas of the application. They do check the rigor of the courses taken in high school though, and they scrutinize your essays a tad more carefully than other Universities. Good luck!
Test optional schools weigh grades more - unless you apply with scores.
Overall stay away from state universities since they essentially weigh grades x scores. What your test scores and ec’s?
