<p>^ Touche. Maybe I should say “expecting to get something for nothing.” We don’t live in a perfectly fair or meritocratic society, but in general, the more work you put in, the more you get out. And the more you want out of your life, the more work you have to put in.</p>
<p>We do live in a society that would love to be perfectly meritocratic, so many people find someone who wants something very big (a degree from a big-name school) without putting in any work at all to be contemptible.</p>
