What are some tips for transferring into USC?

Hey guys, I'm going to attempt to transfer into USC as a sophomore. I would appreciate any tips you could give. I know many of you were in the same position as me either one or two years ago, so I could really benefit from any help you could give.

Thanks.

Get as many important majore pre-req's and GE's done as possible. Get the highest g.p.a. you can. Don't focus too much on ec's or anything else. GPA + Solid Essay = You're In.

its almost all about GPA, and nothing else really matters.

I agree, it's almost all GPA, and by almost I mean about 90%.

A compelling essay is also a big factor. But yea, for transfers GPA and high school record (if your a soph transfer) are the biggies.

They won't look at your high school grades if you have at least 30 transferable semester units. Usually, you can contact them and ask them if a class you're taking will transfer or not.

What about more competitive majors (ie business/Marshall School)?

RATM, same thing, but a higher GPA

Does applying as an international have any bearing on my chances?

My HS record was awful, which is why I didnt get accepted in the first place. But I'll try to fulfill the GEs and get the highest GPA I can.

Where do you guys get reccomendations? Did you reuse the ones from high school?

I don't remember needing any.

Really? You don't need recs?

How awful could your HS gpa be? I'm sure I was in the 1.9-2.2 range through out high school and I managed to step it up my senior year with a 3.9. Now I'm at a community college and holding a 3.82 with one more semester to go hopefully bumping it up to the 3.9 range. USC will ask for your HS transcripts but that won't matter as long as you hold your own at a community college.

hi im just using this to have more posts

just ignore this… :(

just 2 more to go hahahah

alright last one… whew hope no one sees this

USC is easy to get into as a transfer. Just go to Rio Hondo or Santa Monica or LA Valley or Pasadena, get a 3.5 cum and if you don’t need financial aid, presto, you are in dude!
