What are some U.S Universities Comparable to University of Toronto?

I am from the states but am considering applying to U of T. I have a few questions for anyone that could help.

  1. Is engineering a big deal at U of T?
  2. What does U of T lack (research, sports, etc.)?
  3. What U.S university is U of T on par with? I've heard some people say it would fall in the middle of the ivies, but others say it is equal to a top 40-0 in the U.S...
  4. Do Canadian employers care about undergrad universities when hiring (I plan to go to grad school and further)?

Engineering is big at U of T.
Toronto lacks big time sports and Greek life.
Toronto is equivalent to Wisconsin-Madison.
Employers care more about you.

Yep. UToronto is comparable to a top respected American public (being a top respected Canadian public). So between UMich and UW-Madison. Though UToronto does have Oxbridge-style colleges, so in that respect, they are like UCSD.
