What are some things that we should bring that are useful or even necessary for living in the dorms that the move-in website doesn't mention? This is the school's list:
Extra-long, twin size sheets
Towels and wash cloth
Pillow and pillow cases
Blankets, comforter or bedspread
Telephone
Clothes hangers
Desk lamp (NOT HALOGEN)
Key or combination lock
Shower sandals
Plate, cup and a set of utensils
Bathroom supplies (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)
Laundry supplies (basket, detergent, fabric softener, etc.)
Umbrella
Alarm clock
School supplies (backpack, notebooks, binders, paper, pencils, pens, erasers, ruler, etc.)

Do you guys have anything else to add?

And would it be possible to bring my snowboard into a Unit 3 triple? OR what about my 26' flatscreen LCD TV? Would there be enough room for either of these things?

im sorry to break it to ya but i don't think you would have much space in a triple to fit your snowboard or your 26 inch flat screen...you may be lucky though, that's if your other roommates don't drag a lot of junk with them to the dorm
keyword: TRIPLE! you may not even have enough room to move around, so to speak

Heavymetal -- can you really mount it on the wall? The walls look like they're covered with some sort of material and you can only use tacks -- I can just picture having the flat screen mounted, then having it bring down all the backing on the wall! It would be v. cool if you COULD do that, but I'm wondering if it's allowed and if the walls (underneath the material) are made of concrete or something. I would for sure do that!

dragongirl -- I know there's an outlet that you share with your roommate, but I was told bringing a landline phone is optional (although they charge you for the phone line anyway even if you don't use it)

bored @ home in pasadena, 2 more weeks till back in the yay area...workin', savin' some dough....in the words of the great john sinclair: "it's all good."

Punk - hard to chill in Pasadena in this weather, now I'm chillin' in Avalon this week. Wanted to go to the south of France, but my parents said that or college, can't afford both. so i opted for the education, since I've done one but not the other. . . . Ah well, maybe next year.

well, about the snowboarding and coming home for winter break, on an average season, you can snowboard from dec-mar, on a good snow season, you can snowboard from nov-april, so yeah. But i guess its true, there would be no room, sigh, a double would be so nice...anywho, back on the subject, here are a few things I thought of:

A dry-eraser white board: for messages, schedules, random writing and drawing, and since its magnetic, it doubles as a corkboard.

Running shoes: for PE/sports (which I will be doing) or/and if you just want to jump on the treadmill in the RSF.

Speakers: for when you want to share your music

Earphones: for when you don't

USB flash drive: to carry files around (kind of a given)

Posters and decorative things: to call that small, cramp, tiny, overpriced space your own

And I have two questions, the school list tells you to bring plate and utensils, is that even necessary? And the second question is that I was planning to bring ALL of my clothes up there, is there enough drawer/closet space? Especially for a triple?

catalina is bomb beatchick, haven't been there in years. what part of LA r u from? btw, i'm trying to get funds together for spring break in amsterdam or europe somewhere...maybe cuba

badclones, bring some bowls and plates or something, just to start, u might not use them much. if anything, steal them from the DC's....just don't be a douche and at least give the stuff back at the end of the year or something...or be a douche, they charge too much for room and board anyway.
