What are the benefits of double majoring?

I believe perhaps I am planning to double major for the wrong reasons. I'm not terribly interested in economics but I can live with it. However, if the tangible benefits are weak then I believe I would be better off spending my time else where. I think the big assumption that people make is that two is better than one, hence why not graduate with two majors instead of one? However I find that getting into graduate school and into the workforce is much more than about the major. If you can sell yourself well and perform well during interviews then you have a good shot at a job.

From what I'm hearing, double majoring won't give you that definitive edge but it could help you grow your interests.
