what community colleges or jr colleges are most respected in the US? anyone know?

Deep Springs College.

Or if you're only considering CCs, it's kinda hard to evaluate them. I know the system I'm at (NHMCCD) grants a very high number of AA degrees and I always hear good things about Montgomery College in Maryland sending a good deal of students to JHU/Georgetown.

Man, Deep Springs shouldn't even be on that list. I applied there out of HS, but wasn't able to make it past the second round.

Ultimately though, I'm not sure how I would have dealt with the experience. It really is a different life-though you are rewarded when you transfer out.

Well, it is technically a junior college ;).

You probably didn't make it because of your GPA. I hear Deep Springs is insanely competitive and near perfect test scores are the norm for admitted applicants. I guess it takes a certain kinda person, but as someone that's already lived out in the country for my entire life, I'd never want to spend two more years on a ranch in the middle of Cali.

Like asking who the smartest retard is...

wait.............deep springs rejects people and its a CC?

how weird lol im about to look this place up

it's a two-year, all-male version of BJ.U.

Deep Springs is arguably the toughest school to get into in the entire US....

"It is entirely possible that an incoming class might contain as few as 11 or as many as 15 students and select from a pool of between 100 and 200--which means our selectivity can vary between 15% and 6% year-to-year."

not too bad compared to curtis or jailyard

those aren't really academic institutions....

so what kind of post-AA opportunities does Deep Springs offer to its students?

you get to transfer to pretty much anywhere you want

In terms of competativeness, it's Little Big Horn College http://www.lbhc.cc.mt.us/

Their acceptance rate for non-Native Americans is 0%.

^ example of affirmative action going overboard

maybe the apply rate is also 0%

lax thats not true at all.

Um, best community college? I really don't know how one would evaluate them.

Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL was ranked #2 as CC a few years ago. I don't know where that information came from though.

http://www.mdc.edu/home/

Miami Dade College ^ is a rather fine 2 year school. They seem to have their act together.

anyone ever hear of brookdale in nj...i go there and i hear all the time they are reputable
